MORE THAN 1,200 EXHIBITORS This year’s edition already promises to be a major highlight for the entire animal farming world, with 1,207 exhibitors registered (around a hundred more than in 2022), including 247 new exhibitors. There will be 365 international exhibitors from 39 different countries. The animal feed and nutrition sectors, as well as the energy and outdoor equipment sectors, are showing significant growth compared to last year. The Top Buyers programme run by Business France as part of the “Export Begins in France” project, will be welcoming major international players to SPACE, including Kenya’s leading aquaculture producer, Angola’s number one poultry producer, Saudi Arabia’s largest flour miller, Kenya’s leading meat producer and Poland’s largest animal feed producer, etc. A broad range of delegations that place SPACE at the top of the list of Exhibitions offering solutions for the world of animal farming. It is a fine and fair acknowledgment of the know-how and high-quality offer that the regions of Western France and Brittany regions in particular are able to provide thanks to the work of its farmers and businesses. PLENTY OF NEW FEATURES AT SPACE 2023 INNOV'SPACE SPACE 2023 will be packed with new features, thanks first and foremost to the research and development initiatives of the exhibiting companies rewarded by Innov'Space. This year, 37 new products have been rewarded following a thorough review carried out by a jury of multi-disciplinary experts. The main themes emerging from the 2023 prize-winners are precision farming and reducing the environmental impact with agro-machinery (13 winners), energy with solutions for optimising energy use and improving the atmosphere in buildings, and animal health and safety with solutions to help farmers optimise the management of these two issues. Discover Innov'Space 2023 winners THE TECH’AGRI CHALLENGE BY INNOV’SPACE Tech’Agri Challenge 2023 is the first edition of a competition initiated by Bretagne Développement Innovation, Innozh and SPACE. It aims to encourage young people in training to reflect on concrete agricultural issues and to design technical solutions together to address these issues. . The solutions designed by the students will be presented throughout the Exhibition in a dedicated area in Hall 3. Young people will also have the opportunity to present their projects by pitching them to a jury who will determine the winning team on Tuesday 12 September at 2.30 pm at the Youth Forum. Download SPACE 2023 map A NEW SPACE ESPACE FOR THE FUTURE The Espace for the Future will focus on the theme of providing visitors with the keys to tomorrow’s animal farming. How can farms be made more resilient? How can agriculture become a solution to the global issue of energy on a societal level? These questions will be addressed in the fully renovated Espace for the Future in Hall 3: an Exhibition Area featuring the equipment presented by SPACE exhibitors, an Experts’ Area with short presentations on specific subjects such as optimising energy contracts, saving energy on animal farms and reducing NRD consumption on tools and tractors, and a Forum Area with a round table every day at 10.30 am on the cost of energy in the future, the land issue and the social acceptability of local energy production projects. Know more about the new Espace for the Future THE CLOSING CEREMONY FOR YOUNG FARMERS For the first time this year, the Young Farmers of Brittany will organise an evening event on Thursday 14 September to bring together the Young Farmers of Western France. The event, which will be a first at SPACE, will be a great opportunity to highlight the importance of teamwork and intergenerational bonds. 2ND EDITION OF THE YOUTH FORUM The Youth Forum will be set up for the second year running. This year it will be organised by sector (beef, pork and poultry, machinery), and will be open to engineering students. This space for dialogue will enable young people enrolled in agricultural training courses to express their vision of their future career and to share it, or even compare it, with young people who have already made their professional debut. THE PODCAST SPACE AND SPACE TV The Podcast Space and Space TV offer you programmes on the latest agricultural news all year round. During the Exhibition, you will find them between Hall 2 and Hall 3, with a programme full of shows, debates and interviews on subjects such as energy, food donations, setting up a business, animal farming issues, etc. You are welcome to attend these shows. CONFERENCES SPACE is a unique opportunity for the agricultural profession to discuss and learn about important issues. The 100 or so conferences scheduled this year will address a variety of major themes (animal feed, animal farming practices, international issues, environment, etc.). This programme reflects SPACE’s ability to offer content for all farmers and for all farming sectors. Discover the programme of SPACE 2023 conferences THE BREED SHOW 500 cattle of 13 different breeds will provide a continuous spectacle in the main ring during the three-day Exhibition. The 2023 Breed Show will feature two major highlights: SPACE will host a National Charolais Breed competition on the Tuesday and a European Simmental Breed Challenge on Wednesday.On Thursday, most of the day will be devoted to the Atlantic Prim’Holstein competition. The event will also feature 10 other interregional competitions, breed presentations and a multi-breed auctions. In 2023, dairy and meat auctions will be held separately. Tuesday will end with the “Meat Excellence” beef cattle auction, which will be entirely dedicated to suckler breeds this year. The multi-breed “Genomic Elite Auction” for dairy breeds and mixed breeds will take place on Wednesday 13 September. For the sheep, 120 animals across 10 different breeds are expected in Hall 1 bis, which has been moved between Hall 1 and Hall 7. Competitions and the Sheep Olympics will be held throughout the day, with 136 young learners taking part.
Learn more about the Breed Show AQUACULTURE A FAST-GROWING SECTOR For several years, SPACE has been offering a programme dedicated aquaculture. The Exhibition is continuing to expand, establishing itself on the international stage as one of the key events for all those involved in aquaculture. Those interested in this sector at SPACE 2023 will find: a specific itinerary around the stands, two dedicated conferences and a specific tour for international visitors. 700 of the 10,000 international visitors expected at SPACE 2023 have already told us that they have a keen interest in aquaculture. A delegation from Nigeria and another from Sierra Leone will be coming to learn more about the technologies presented at SPACE for this sector. Learn more about Aquaculture at SPACE 2023 SOLAAL’S TENTH ANNIVERSARY SOLAAL, a leading association in the agricultural world, which fights against poverty and food waste, will celebrate its tenth anniversary at SPACE. This association has a special relationship with SPACE since it was created in 2013 by Jean Michel LEMETAYER. This year SOLAAL will again be joining forces with the Food Banks at SPACE to collect and donate milk. A tribute to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Jean Michel LEMETAYER will be held on Wednesday 13 in the late morning. CARBON STRATEGY: SPACE COMMITS SPACE wants to develop its carbon strategy and make a long-term commitment to help reduce emissions, in the same way as its participants do on a daily basis in their company and on their farms. In order to define the actions to be taken, as well as the new measures to be implemented for future editions, SPACE is going to calculate its carbon footprint for the 2023 edition. It is the first agricultural Exhibition in France to take this step. OFFICIAL VISITS The opening ceremony for SPACE 2023 will take place on Tuesday 12 September with Marc Fesneau, the French Minister for Agriculture and Food. The Head of Representation of the European Commission in France, Valérie Drezet Humez, will be present on Thursday 14 September. Her visit will include meetings with industry leaders and exhibitors, as well as a conference on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in the wake of President Von der Leyen’s speech on the state of the European Union.
