Tech'Agri Challenge

Students innovate for agriculture

TechAgri Challenge by InnovSpace

Tech’Agri Challenge 2023 is the first edition of a competition initiated by Bretagne Développement Innovation, Innozh and SPACE. It aims to encourage young people in training to reflect on concrete agricultural issues and to design technical solutions together to address these issues.

The competition is open to students from Brittany and from agricultural and digital training institutes studying in various programmes (vocational degree, HND, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, engineering, etc.) who wish to apply their skills to real-life agricultural issues.

For the students, this is an opportunity to interact directly with an audience of livestock professionals at a major show and to test their solutions.

For the 2024 edition, we want to involve design schools and go beyond the concept by moving to the demonstration stage. This new edition will start in autumn 2023 and finish in spring 2024.

FOCUS ON THE FIRST TECH'AGRI CHALLENGE

Fifteen students took part in the first Tech'Agri Challenge. 4 schools were represented: Lycée Kerlebost and Loudéac MFR representing the agricultural courses, and ISEN and ESIR representing the digital courses.

Divided into four working groups, they have been working since March, attending in-class and video-conferencing sessions, to devise a technical solution to the agricultural issues they have identified. They submitted their work in the form of an application and a poster presenting their solution.

A jury specifically selected for the challenge examined the entries and then heard the young students pitch their projects both in terms of the functionalities they have imagined and of the technical choices they have made. Following the presentations, the jury selected the winning team.

PRESENTATION OF THE TECH'AGRI CHALLENGE 2023 PROJECTS

The 'Automated Headlock' project, developed by 4 students from ISEN, ESIR and Lycée Kerlebost, was awarded the trophy for the first Tech'Agri Challenge.

This innovative, automated system can be used to remotely set up and control feed fences, to improve the welfare and management of cows on farms.
